#SquadGoals and Tribes

#SquadGoals and Tribes

While we live in a world that constantly tells us to be individualistic and self sustaining we grow up and start to realize that’s a lie. We get lied to every day, from the media, politicians, musicians, friends and even family. So why does that matter? Cause the biggest lie you’ll ever receive is “all you need is yourself”. That’s emotionally, physically and spiritually impossible. You know what happens to people stuck in solitary confinement over an extended period of time? They go crazy. You know what happens to people who are reclusive over a lifetime? They die faster. I’m being deadass fam. There was a Harvard study that examined people who have all sorts of “tribes” like church groups, sports activities, art groups, etc and reclusive types that legit don’t have a squad. Guess who lived longer? Let me make this clear, you can’t live life without people. You will die inside. Yes that same person turnin up every weekend with the same people will outlive you because he (or she) has established so social structure which is built on love, compassion, respect, communication and purpose. While you’ve established 7hours staring at cat videos, memes, netflix and petty social media drama.  Continue reading “#SquadGoals and Tribes”

Super Bowl 51 Preview

Super Bowl 51 Preview

Okay then…this preview will probably change the closer we get to the big game, Feb 5th in Houston, Texas. I’ll lay down my bias from the jump, I’m a Ravens fan therefore I’m one of the few rational people on this planet that recognizes the New England Patriots as a repulsive, cheating, media hogging franchise. I’m not a fan of the deflategate story because I don’t care about inflated balls, I care about Ls and dubs. I’m also not a fan of a spygate tactics that these stupid Patriots have been proven to do. I’m a fan of Cam Newton and Joe Flacco, extremely indifferent about Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Hawks, just know this preview is far from objective. So who will win Superbowl 51? And why? I’ll make this short and sweet. Atlanta is gonna win this shootout. Here are 3 reasons.

  1. Better Receivers: Julio Jones won’t be contained by Malcolm Butler, plain and simple. Since we all saw that beat down, we fail to recognize that HaHa Clinton Dix (Packers) is a very very good Safety with no real help from the corners, Patrick Chung on the Pats will have to support Butler up top but can they also contain Mohamed Sanu? Devonta Freeman (he’s basically a 3rd receiver). I don’t expect Chris Hogan to snap like he did last night.
  2. Better D-Line: So we’re all gonna casually ignore that Vic Beasly the 2nd year beast didn’t lead the league in sacks (15)? Did we just see Ra’Shede Hageman literally toe sack Aaron Rodges the notorious mobile QB? Do the entire starting D Line in Atlanta have at least 2 sacks each? The answer to all those questions is ye.
  3. Inconsistency: Pats played horrible against the Texans, played amazing vs Pittsburgh. What does this mean? It means there is clear cut inconsistencies on the offensive end and defensive end of the Pats. People could argue that history repeats itself, N.E. has this in the bag…but what happened in 2008 doe? Perfect season then David Tyree happened. I’m always against the hype machine, and this Pats hype is warranted but I see clear inconsistencies that won’t be fixed in 2 weeks. Atlanta has been untouched all post season…momentum is a thing. Remember that.

Split Review

Split Review

Long story short, I loved this movie. Now I’m not a deep M. Night Shyamalan fan, I have barely seen his movies and have little to no experience with his style, I saw the Visit which was great and The Happening which is pure doo doo cakes. I walked in this movie with medium expectations, for a frame of reference, I hate watching trailers. They’re more misleading than a McDonalds commercial (why does my Junior chicken look so merked?) when I saw the trailer for Split, I was shocked by the originality and the concept of The Beast. Here is a film that tackles mental issues at it’s core but dresses up as a horror movie, spoiler alert…It’s not scary. It’s an edge of your seat psychological thriller, and to be real those are easily ruined or greatly formulated. Shyamalan did not disappoint, the characters were onions that had to be pealed back and despite what you see, Kevin (dude with 24 personalities) is the protagonist as opposed to the 3 kidnapped girls. It’s really a story that is clear yet oddly mysterious, a film that is disturbing as well, some of these scenes will cause nightmares. You’ll be on the edge of your seat thinking (or saying) “what the fuck did I just watch?” and to be honest I like that. You’ll like it too. Why do I say this? Because most movies these days are recycled themes and trops, legit you get the same superhero movies following the same plot or you get trash remakes (Power Rangers). Here we see a movie that reminds me of The Gift directed by Joel Edgerton where the twists and turns are unexpected, grotesque and refreshing. James Mcavoy did an amazing job (shout out Hendrik) and so did Anya Taylor Joy. Give it a 4.5/5 Don’t read after this part, I’m talking spoilers and a critical analysis of those ending Continue reading “Split Review”

the downfall of our generation

the downfall of our generation

We care too much, plain and simple. I’ve been meaning to write about this and its about damn time. Now I hate the term “millennials” and the connotation it brings (Even wrote a whole blog about it” check the archives beloved) but I’ll have to use it today. This topic mostly applies to us, the collective us that are between the ages of 10 to 30, older folk can relate but not at the same level. We live in a world that is full of judgement, from the second we wake up till we close our eyes and sleep we are judged. Whether we know it or not there is a person (or people) creeping our social media as we sleep, checking our history, talking about us, asking about us, gossiping or judging you in some way. The issue is we take it to heart and that’s the fuckin problem. We are a generation that takes self-consciousness to an absurd level, people will deadass delete a picture because it doesn’t get enough likes. People will dress up to fit an aesthetic that is trending, people will literally hangout at the same place everyone else is to seem cool, people will literally fit in a box if that box says SUPREME or BAPE on it. This wouldn’t be a problem if empathy was the driving cause, no. This is a problem that is rooted in self gratification, where you don’t wanna be caught “slippin” or out of place. We care too much, that will be our downfall.

When you live in a world that tells you to bend over and bow down you are literally getting fucked. And that’s the truth. That’s what people are scared of every day, people are scared of living their truth, people are scared of being themselves, they’d rather fit in the expectations that people have for them. I’ll use an easy example, one day I tweeted something and a friend of mine texted me saying “bruh you’re a dumbass for writing that” Continue reading “the downfall of our generation”

communication is a hard thing to understand

we can't logically quantify it, put it through data

it's not something held or easily seen like matter

could be small useless or deep chatter

could be roast sessions or sports talk that just we had

could be people talk then freak talk that we just had

ms.juicebox can't wait to feel your juicebox

communication isn't too hard to understand

when you feel me and i'm feeling you

my birds are purple and your patriots blue

hope you deflategate me, don't play those games with me

i know you can be my favorite dish

i'll run that body like i'm the commish

to find perfect timing is my only wish

communication's never hard if its something you never miss

Why I hate the cowboys

Why I hate the cowboys

Long story short, they’re a boosted franchise and team. They have literally a decade of playoff irrelevance and all of a sudden they have a bomb ass season with the greatest o-line of our generation and niggas think they actually matter…NO. HELL TO THE NO. The issue here lies in the promotion and the hype behind the Dallas Cowboys, which is literally the NFL’s fault. Dak Prescott is amazing, so is Zeke and it would take a dummy to think that they’re not, I will not dispute this. I know they’re getting co-rookie of the year, they deserve it, not MVP. Now here we must acknowledge that despite they’re amazing talent the fact still remains, there’s a crazy hype machine behind them and I hate it. People gon pretend that this aint the same franchise that literally hasn’t made it to the superbowl since the 90s. Cowboys fans are the most delusional bunch to ever grace sports. They’re equatable to that guy at the bar that gets curved 6 times a night and still believes he has game, nah fam you don’t. Until they actually make it to the Superbowl (they won’t) I will doubt them and have no belief in them. Now i’m not a pure hater (even though i hate the stupid cowboys) I objectively like seeing them play. They’re a top 3 regular season team in 2016-2017 but will they get it done? No. Rookie QB, Rookie RB, a disgruntled HOF Tight End, dive WR who doesn’t deliver in the clutch, average to mediocre defense, that BAAAAAD MAN Aaron Rodges will carve this pumpkin ass cowboys D. This goes back to the essence of my hatred, the culture of hype, just because something seems and is presented as a brownie doesn’t mean its not square shaped poop. You need too look deeply at what it truly is. In summation, fuck the cowboys, their fans and the NFL media for treating them like they matter.

My Picks.

After Atlanta just slapped the Seahawks (word to Ciara and her cursed kitty) I can see them beating Greenbay and going to the Superbowl

Cowboys are getting merked by Greenbay (32-24)

New England is gonna munch the Texans (40-21)

Kansas city shocks the dumbass NFL media and slaps the Steelers (27-24)

New Years Resolutions and other lies

New Years Resolutions and other lies

It’s that time of year again, everyone and their mama are joining the gym, she’s smoking her last pack, gonna finally save up for that Cuba trip, gonna finally stop drinking. Its some bullshit, we all know it. Yes objectively speaking these are all good goals, they’re admirable and really really good. But let’s get real, no one will follow these resolutions. They’re built on a failing structure. So you’re going to tell me that every 365 days you make a fundamental change your behavior and the attributes that define you. Fam, if your diet consists of burgers everyday or eating out every night then what the hell will January 1st change? If you’re smoking a pack a day then what the hell will a countdown do to change your mind? If you’re getting blackout drunk every weekend what the hell difference will next weekend make? People need to realize that change, especially drastic change is something unnatural. Why?
