On a chill wednesday night I was in the mood for some high quality food, and guess where I went? If y’all couldn’t tell by the title Milestones on Sussex was the place to reach! Here’s my honest review of this DT (downtown) spot.
What I ate
Rustic Chicken Club (17.75$, 8$ shrimp skewer and two domestic beers 15$)
the food was fresh and when it comes to food reviews you me, you know that seafood has to be FRESH ! The plate was hot and savory, which made me enjoy this sandwich more than I expected, if I had my way I would add more sauce. Sauce is the CAUSE!!! But the quality was better than most, and I can’t deny that. Sidenote: THE SKRIMP SKEWERS ARE AMAZING SHOUTS OUT TO THE CHEFS IN THIS BIHHH! Continue reading “The best date night spot in this stupid City”
We’ve all been there, we’ve taken our girl before an awkward movie date, we’ve all ate too much sushi and paid the “take home” fee, we all know Ten Sushi. But is it good? Is it trash? Keep reading to find out…
What I usually eat
Lunch buffet special (between 12pm-3:30pm) 24.99$
I’m not a sushi connoisseur i’m just a dude with a lit blog about a whole lotta random ish so my thoughts on sushi are basic (at best). Some rolls are amazing, especially the deep fried roll, and some are meh. This ain’t mall sushi and I’m almost 100% sure it isn’t the best sushi. I’d give it a solid C+ to B
I’ll keep it real, some of the servers can’t speak English and its annoying trying to place an order. Last time I went me and my friends spent 15 minutes trying to communicate our order…
Overall I’m not too impressed with this spot, the ambiance is cool, the vibe is cool, the service is meh and the quality is good. My main issue is that it isn’t special, other than the tablets to place the order, nothing stands out. I’d say their best feature is that you get what you pay for especially the lunch menu, it’s worth your coin. Maybe the dinner deals are better but in my book this resto is a “meh”.
3.5/5 (real rating)
6/5 (chance of having the itis after eating)
When I wrote that title I thought of myself. I make so many damn excuses its pathetic. But I’m not alone and I know this for a fact because my friends are exactly like me! I generalize a lot so imma go out on a limb and make this statement: Our generation is NOT motivated We have NO drive! I was listening to this podcast called The Drop Out, a series profiling Elizabeth Holmes and her failed company Theranos. On the most recent episode her former Professor at Stanford said something real: anyone can have an idea, executing it and making it happen is the hard part. Our generation has a lot of ideas but doesn’t EXECUTE ! Here is where motivation comes in, a motivated person will go beyond the idea phase and make ish happen for real. I decided to go on my snapchat and ask friends/acquaintances/randoms what motivates them, maybe you can find inspiration in their words.
- “Myself & what I been through already, I can get through it all”
- “SHMONEYYY *tongue sticking out emoji* & MY DREAM”
- “Music and human connection”
- “Knowing that the ppl that used to look down on me now hurt their necks looking up to me”
- “Eating the booty like groceries *tongue sticking out emoji*”
Folks were on my ass with my previous review (and for good reason) I spoke highly of Island Flava from personal experience cause this is my blog. But I recognized that I don’t have a lot of experience with Caribbean food therefore I had a small sample size. So What did I do? Went to one of the top Island restos in the city and here is my honest review
What I ate
1/4 Chicken platter (comes with rice and peas, plantain, with salad on the side) 15.99$
As a Rwandese person pili pili always meant spice to me so I assumed this was an African restaurent, specifically east African but I quickly found it to be more Carribbean leaning. The Chicken is charcoal grilled and it tastes so damn good!!! So fresh and authentic I felt like grabbing sunglasses and chillin on the beach.
Even with the brief interaction I felt a “homie” vibe. The music was a mix of Dancehall, Afro beats and some Spanish tunes while I waited for my food. I pulled out the Shazam once (or twice). I even cracked a joke with one of the servers, it was lit.
Because of my experience at Pili Pili I might have to change up my Flava review, this spot TOOK OVER! Big ups to Pili Pili it was amazing, no complaints on this side.
5/5 (real Score) *
*my first perfect score
10 STRAIGHT TRIPLE DOUBLES!!! Please take that in, absolutely insane. To give you reference Paul George (the best player on OKC) only has 3 IN HIS ENTIRE CAREER. If we keep it all the way real what Harden is doing will not happen for years and to be honest there’s only 3 other players in the NBA that can do it LeBron, Lonzo and Rondo. Keep in mind I’m not here to diminish what James Harden is doing, 30 straight games with 30points or more and within January he’s averaged 40 plus points. But let me tell y’all an interesting stat, Harden gets 88% of his points unassisted !!! What does that mean? Dude is a straight up ball hog! He gets the ball at the top of the key, dribbles for 20 seconds, drives to the hoop, gets slapped and shoots free throws. OR the mans takes 13 three pointers while playing the most minutes in the NBA 37.5… This man is playing pick up basketball! Let me give y’all some more reference, Jalen Rose was an above average basketball player and in his 14 year career he had 1 triple double!!! My guy Westbrook has 10 in 10 games!!! Insanity and keep in mind he is probably going on his third straight season averaging a triple double.
This ain’t a debate, Harden’s streak is impressive but Westbrook is the real winner.
First off let me say this, I’m not Caribbean and I’ve only been to a few Carribbean restos in the city (we basically have 3 so that’s not saying much) I can’t fully compare Flava to other Island restos. But I’ll make this clear, Island Flava is one the top spots in this city and here is why:
What I Usually eat
Large Oxtail meal (bone-in) with a Ting (15$)
Since the service is very quick I believe that the food is pre heated or warmed up but it’s delicious! This ain’t no McD’s or Timmies quality, hell nah, this is the type of food that is feels “made at home”.
This is a highlight, the staff, specifically the owner is nice and usually knows what you ordered. Welcoming with a nice smile and fast service, you won’t be waiting 10 minutes for your food ON GOD!
I believe that this is an Ottawa staple, especially if you spend your time downtown, forget Zak’s! Go get you a nice Curry Chicken Rotti or Bone In Oxtail with extra plantain you won’t regret it.

If you don’t understand this title please watch this Deontay Wilder interview and come right back.
Not only is this perfect for Black History Month this is perfect for the Netflix documentary “Abducted in Plain Sight”. Since Future released his string of historic mixtapes/albums from 2014-2017 I have never seen a streak like this until now. Netflix has released the best documentaries from 2014-TO THIS DAY!
“Abducted in plain sight” is another example of this streak, an amazing doc about pedophilia, religion, family relations, homosexuality, cheating and white privilege lowkey. I could get into details but it would be spoilers straight up. So I want each and everyone of you to watch this doc and analyse it, think about it. Netflix made Fyre fraud, Ted Bunday Tapes, American Meme, Evil Genuis, Making a Murderer and much more they’re going BRAZY!
My honest spoiler free review is this: people are fuckin stupid and they are willing to believe a charming person based off internal issues, everyone can and will get scammed and the father is a complete
Watch the doc and let me know what you think.
