Atari is A tragedy…

Atari is A tragedy…

Last week me and some friends decided to go to Atari, a restaurant/gaming bar in the Byward Market at the intersection of Dalhousie street. I was expecting a lot based on social media and the popularity of this spot but…i was disappointed.

  1. Food

Unlike El Camino and some other spots I’ve reviewed in the past, Atari was different. Some may call it a higher quality restaurant but that doesn’t mean that it has to be expensive. Long story short, it was not worth the price. Below is a picture of my salmon, which took up less than half my plate, this would be fine if it didn’t cost 35$ PLUS TAX! Why am I eating a straight up gas payment and it barely fits half my plate? It’s like a pretty lady with 0 personality. Disappointing.

Sex and the City season 6 (part 1&2) review! A surprising end…

Sex and the City season 6 (part 1&2) review! A surprising end…

As fans of Sex in the City we deserved a better ending, which is why season 6 was surprising. Very very surprising because of the plot and character arc were trash, it felt rushed. Am I going to spend 300+ words trashing this season? No but I have critics and some praise, let’s start with my girl Miranda.  Continue reading “Sex and the City season 6 (part 1&2) review! Stop working for free

Stop working for free

I wrote a similar post a few months ago and I’m sticking to it…creators need to stop working for free. We live in a capitalistic system that is about give and take, the exchange of goods and services but as a creator we have been lied to. From day one we’ve been told to create for free, to “partner” and “collaborate” for clout and exposure. Clout and exposure don’t pay the bills, a shout out doesn’t pay the bills and they come every single month.

Nick Cannon getting fired showed me the true nature of these “Allys”

Nick Cannon getting fired showed me the true nature of these “Allys”

When I wrote the piece about DeSean Jackson I was skirting around the point, maybe it wasn’t very clear and concise but guess what, I got time today. The L.O.H. is not a term that can be put to sports organizations, it extends to the entire society we live in, if you don’t protest, speak your mind, or even move according to their narrative they will come after you.

Who is “they”? The elites and in this case these are the executives at Viacom that decided to fire Nick Cannon. Why? Because of a specific segment of his podcast where he talks about socially conscious issues and the intersection of his Hebrew Israelite beliefs. Cannon has done more for Viacom than most, he has done more for black people than most and he has actually done the work of spreading socially conscious messages more than most entertainers period! But when he speaks his mind on controversial beliefs he is quickly labeled an anti-semite and a black supremacist. Keep in mind the killers of Breanna Taylor go on vacation and transfer departments, a powerful black voice is getting fired for 2 minutes of speech about the history of whites and Jews. Keep in mind Palestine got taken off Google Maps today and guess what? Wild N’ Out is left without it’s creator, this is without a doubt one of the dumbest media moves ever made!

Put some respeccc on Usman (and Jorge’s) name!

Put some respeccc on Usman (and Jorge’s) name!

Dana white should bow down to Kamaru Usman today and I know MMA fans don’t want to hear it but those are the facts. Yes it wasn’t a full out brawl or fight of the year contender like Porrier vs Hooker but who cares…Fight Island was Usman’s night! King Foot stomper wasn’t a Nigerian Nightmare he was the Nigerian savior. Here are my 3 takeaways from last nights UFC 251 Card.

  1. Usman pulled a Jon Jones: No he didn’t do steroids and run people over, Kamaru Usman survived and coasted. We all remember the Dominic Reyes fight, Jon Jones refused to brawl and that’s what a champion is supposed to do. If Usman chose to strike with Masvidal he would have went out like Robbie Lawler vs Tyron Woodley. As a champion you have to use your STRENGTHS. Why was GSP so dominant for years? He did the same thing every single fight, take downs and take downs and take downs. Usman did the same thing he does every fight…control the clinch, wrestle and take downs. Unlike Jon Jones in UFC 151, Usman actually showed up on last minute  notice and performed, without Kamaru this card doesn’t happen. Personally I don’t want to watch Usman fight anyone else BUT Gilbert Burns and We need a Leon Edwards vs Jorge Masvidal scrap!
  2. Halloway/Volkanovski should have been a draw: Similar to Masvidal vs Usman, styles make fights and this was a fight of two very different guys. The smaller tank wrestler vs the lanky striker but the decision for Volkanovski was flawed. Yes, he did work in the championship rounds but Halloway was killing him for about 3 rounds. This deserves a trilogy and it was closer than the first fight.
  3. Aldo is done: Seeing champions go out sad is hard to watch, we’ve been seeing Anderson Silva struggle in Middleweight for the past 3 years and it’s depressing. But what makes it ten times worse is when former champs are put in front of hungry youngsters like Petr Yan. Aldo did work to start the fight but this is a new era and Yan proved it. This fight could have ended 30 punches and kicks earlier but seeing Aldo go out sad was terrible. That ref and the corner men for Aldo are to blame for that 4th round beat down and possibly ending Aldo’s MMA career at 33.

Entanglement…

Entanglement…

That was…awkward.

If you didn’t peep the video here it is…Jada and Will discussing the August Alsina interview from last week. Jada brought herself to the Red Table to discuss her little hook up Entanglement. Here are my first 3 thoughts from that lil “discussion” :

  1. Jada wears the pants: After 12 miniets I knew the vibes, Jada is the Future of this relationship and not literal future but rapper Future of this couple. She doesn’t belong to streets, shordy is the the OPP she operates the streets. August Alsina wasn’t an Entanglement, that was her mans for a season or two. She wasn’t afraid to talk about it but I know someone who was…jada future
  2. Will was hurt: Open relationship or not…this man was in clear pain. He corrected her Entanglement comment and said the truth of what it actually was…a relationship. Here’s a fact of life if someone shows you who they are believe them the first time. Will was with Jada when she was in love with Tupac and he still chose her, so why’s he crying? What’s the problem g? You made the bed and you laid in it.
  3. They will last forever: They are life partners, not lovers but life partners. I wouldn’t be surprised if Will has been with many women during his marriage with Jada and vice versa. Is August a snitch? Yes. But is it something new that we never heard or known about? NAH!!! Truth will always come to light even in July. This conversation is healthy, and proves why they’ve been together for so long, the older generation fights for relationships they don’t just give up. A refreshing sight to be seen.

3 Team with the best chance to win Champions League

3 Team with the best chance to win Champions League

After yesterdays draw for the Champions League there’s a few things we can summarize…Barcelona and PSG are two teams going the opposite sides very very fast! But it also taught me a lot…this will be the wildest Champions League battle in a long time. Will my list evolve? Yes, but for now here are the 3 teams that have the best chance to win champions league:

  1. Bayern Munich

Robert Lewandowski

The hottest team in football right now is hands down Bayern Munich, yes not this entire season but after the restart of global soccer…Munich has been on another level. It’s easy to say that Lewandownski deserves the Ball D’Or (he won’t get it) but when you look at the rise of Alphonso Davies and the surprising passing ability of Thomas Mueller you start to understand why this team is so threatening. They are the clear favorites to win it all and possible complete the treble.

2. Paris-Saint Germain

neymar

Like most sports, it’s not always about skill…it’s also about luck. And yes PSG is incredibly lucky in the drawing process. They were on the brink of getting eliminated by Bayern but they will be facing Atalanta in the quarterfinals and then (probably) Lipzig without super star forward Timo Werner. Two winnable challenges that would take them to the finals. Ligue 1 did not restart so their form is questionable but they have a better chance to win this than any other major clubs. Expect Neymar and Mbappe to do Neymar and Mbappe tings…plus an energized Thiago Silva will do work.

Why are we mad at DeSean , but not the Eagles and the corporate media?

Why are we mad at DeSean , but not the Eagles and the corporate media?

The NFL should change it’s name to the LOH (League of Hypocrisy) why, because certain rules don’t apply to certain players. I’ve written many posts about this and I’ve started to realize…the more things change the more they stay the same – Forrest Gump. A few days ago DeSean Jackson posted a fake quote by Adolf Hitler about black Americans being unified and that being the greatest danger to the Nazi society. Let me preface by saying I don’t condone or support Hitler, I am not an anti-Semite, but in this context when DeSean posted that message it hurt and offended a lot of Jewish people. Jackson was aware of this and apologized twice, and I’m almost certain he will apologize a 3rd time…my issue isn’t with him. My issue is the way in which corporate media and the Eagles organization decided to flip the narrative and paint him as an anti-semite.

The Black man’s role in the #GeorgeFloyd Era (pt. 1)

The Black man’s role in the #GeorgeFloyd Era (pt. 1)

It’s been a wild few months in what has been called “The Trayvon Martin Era” of civil rights. This started with Ahmaud Arbery culminated with George Floyd’s murder at the hands of police which sparked international protests and a global uprising of social consciousness. Yes, it is an election year in the States and yes the media has been fanning the flames of racial injustice but when folks saw that knee on Floyd’s neck, we all had enough. This lead me to ask one large question: What is the black man’s role in this time? With all the progress, activism and over achievement of black women, this question spoke to me multiple times.

What is our role in this? Here are 3 things that every black man MUST do to make this more than a hashtag! More than a temporary viral trend. As black men we are essential to this movement towards racism and social justice. I will be doing a 3 part series on each component because each deserves its own post. Here is the first and most important part.
